Spokane Integrated Arts was started to be a non-profit to facilitate helping the Spokane Arts Community. Our original goal was to acquire a large building to house all of the non-profit music groups, giving them a place to rehearse and perform. We were unable to raise enough funds to make this happen and had a significant financial set-back in the process. We very much appreciate those who donated to this cause. We used those funds to supply instruments and repairs to children who would otherwise not have had the opportunity to play.
Fast forward to now; end of April, 2020. We had been looking for a better location and found one that I believe will serve the community as well as be a good business model. The new location is right next to Driver Licensing on Country Homes. This will be my last move! This new location will allow for a larger shop, hopefully actually soundproof studios, a retail area that can be opened for small performances and activities, and more revenue streams to become profitable and able to help more children grow through music.
When the covid shutdown happened, I had just signed the contracts for the new location. The plan was solid financially, however, closing for an extended, still yet to be determined amount of time was not foreseen. I have just started a "go-fund-me," page to help with the costs of building the studios and lofts. This location is still a bit small for all I want to do, so the lofts will increase the usable space by around 20%.
This place will be very special. We will build the 4 studios to look like old western storefronts with a boardwalk for students to wait for lessons. With full spectrum lighting, you'll get a little vitamin D while you're with us and we will be able to have live plants to add to the air quality and ambiance.
We will have food and drink available for sale. With it being right next to the DOL, every 15 and 16 year old in Spokane will have to be right next to us. Since teenagers spend way too much on silly drinks and such, this is an area I have no problem charging the going rate which should help offset some of the money we spend to help students and schools.
Group activities such as youth bands, trombone gatherings and community performances will be possible in this location. (which I am very excited about!)
We really need some help financially and logistically at this time. Please, visit the go fund me page and if you have strong men willing to lift some of the heavy things we need to move and build, I can pay some (depending on how the fundraising goes) or give in-store credit. Don't laugh at my drawings. I don't have time to hire an artist but I think you'll get the idea. https://www.gofundme.com/manage/775mv-help-us-help-our-community
